As you prepare to set up your program, there are some considerations to take into account before you begin. If possible, survey your school’s population to determine demographics to make sure that the culture(s) that are represented in the community and school are incorporated into your units of study. Next, list all of the resources available to your program, such as computers, work areas (inside/outside), local sports teams (do not forget community and university sports programs), books, and media (videos, DVDs). If you know what resources are available initially, you can modify your lesson plans to reflect the resources available or have time to explore and consider different options. Following is a quick checklist of things to consider. |
